Our Groundskeepers for Family Housing maintain the grounds. Residents are encouraged to plant decorative flowers along the edges of the house except the areas immediately adjacent to wood porches. Residents are responsible for upkeep of their flowerbeds by weeding; watering and trimming them back as needed. Note that as you plant flowers they become a part of the unit and, upon vacating the unit, you are required to leave the plants in tact. Please do not dig them out and take them with you.
Residents are provided a hose and sprinkler upon move-in to water the lawn around their unit. For those Residents living in cul-de-sac areas with common grass areas in the center, we ask that you rotate watering this area in order to keep the grass green and alive. Additionally, if a unit is vacant next to you, please take an extra moment to set a sprinkler on that grass to keep it up. When watering any area, please take care to aim water away from houses and especially wood porches. Water damage to these structures can result in costly repairs.
Our grounds staff mows the lawns regularly. A schedule is posted in “The Crier,” the Family Housing newsletter, from time to time to remind Residents when their lawn will be mowed. Residents must prepare their yards for the mowers by picking up all toys and debris from the ground and moving all patio furniture and moveable playground equipment to the side.
Residents with fences around their units are responsible for maintaining the lawn within the fenced area.
There is an assortment of gardening tools for Residents to check out from the Crest Resident Services Office, including shovels, rakes, and a weed-whacker. Please feel free to check something out to help maintain your areas.
If your grounds need extra service (extra seeding, gopher holes, etc.), please contact the Crest Resident Services Office.
